| Lazy Ways to Improve Earnings Without increasing traffic | Top |
| Most of these I came up with from things on this forum... My CTR and ECPM have been much higher lately. Anyways, there's a few tricks I used Before I get into them, social traffic can be easy to get, but targeted search engine traffic gets you MUCH more per click... So if you want to focus on building traffic, go with link building and long term targeted search. Automate link building rather than social posting... If you're going to do social do CPA leads... try not to combine them. Okay so now here are the lazy ways Lazy way 1) Get rid of all your smart priced ads. This seems backwards, but it's actually "addition by subtraction". In other words, your entire google adsense account gets effected by your crappy ads. So instead of getting your $5 clicks in your top niche, you'll only get $2 ads showing simply because your link farm blog had adsense on it with no specific targeted traffic and no real content. I removed all of my crappy ads recently (at least what I could find, there's still plenty out there from random blogger accounts I forgot about)... and my ECPM doubled. They didn't at first, I think it took awhile for google to realize I had made improvements... Note: Some of you have done nothing but social traffic, don't use this method if you're getting a ton of social traffic, although you still may wish to replace your adsense with CPA ads, or a link to one of your ebooks, or if you don't have one just make an affiliate review and try that, or a review of something requiring action on a CPA. If you're making a lot of money already using social traffic that's fine. If you have lower converting but make up for it by an insane amount of volume of traffic, it can make you more. Lazy method 2) Find the cheap asses on adwords for your keywords, and disallow advertisements from them. The way you do it is you go into your account, login and click adsense setup, then competative filter... Then you enter in somedomain.com and it will ban all forms of that domain. This method is from someone on this forum, can't remember though, anyways they suggested you check out the advertisers budgets that show up and eliminate the cheap budgets, but I don't know the tool... There's also a way that can at least figure out the best advertisers, and from there you can simply just eliminate your advertisers until you see some of the top ones showing up... This way is probably risky, since you're not allowed to modify adsense code but you need to for this method... I'll talk about it in lazy way 3, and lazy way 4 will tell you how you can "hedge" against your account being deleted. Also, If you're smart priced, and have ads you just can't find or get rid of, there's plenty of obvious advertisers to get rid of... Here's a list of sites from someone who made a post awhile back on this form about the 'smart priced cheap asses' to remove if you do a lot of niches. "informational purposes" ;) Note: haven't checked this myself, read about it in some blackhat blog though. This lazy way to increase earnings is you just delete your pub code, and wait. Then what happens is the good ads start showing that pay maximum since you don't have a smart priced pub associated with the ads, so google wants to make the most money for themselves as if they published it. But after you get some clicks (well after google gets clicks since it's not your ID) if you then go back later and put your ad pub id back up there and the ads remain the same for awhile. So this works good, but I can't reccomend since you will probably get caught and banned. BUT that doesn't mean you can't use the information just the same although there is obviously some risk. I think that's too much risk, especially if you don't get a lot per click, and suddenly start getting mesothilioma keywords paying you. I suggest as alternative mirroring one of your main sites first with a blogger blog with same keyword (just in case use proxy or new IP) once you get site indexed and optomized for the keyword, THEN you can put up the no pub id adsense, and see which ads start to run. Use the arrows below the ads to scroll through and make sure to figure out what the best top 10 advertisers or so are. Quick way to do this would be to export your wordpress content to blogger, then just blast out some links with anchor text of keyword, and use keyword in title tag, etc. Once you know what the good keywords are, if you act quickly, or know for sure that the advertisers have been running those ads and aren't just going to pull them or lower costs dramatically, you can just go to your site with your pub id, and copy all of the advertisers you can find that aren't in the top 10, paste them to a notepad which later you post in the competitive ad filter and continue until the top 10 start showing up. (different niche may require less than top 10, especially if you only use 1 or 2 ads on your page) Okay now here's one more idea that's been mentioned, but isn't quite that "lazy". In the long run though, it's probably less work than getting your ass banned, and is best for people that are making a lot of money from garbage traffic and want an account for quality specific targeted search traffic. (Slightly less lazy) Lazy way 4) Form an LLC get EIN and create a few new accounts 4 is good number. If you're like me, you had no idea what the hell you were doing and you did a lot of things wrong to start with. That's why you need new accounts. If you have a crap account, or if you just get a lot of bulk traffic that's untargeted, or if you've just learned a lot of things to improve dramatically but you havealready got adsense all over the place, with this account you will forever be doomed to get worse ads than you're capable of getting because of it. Once you get 4 new accounts only use 2 the others are backup. One is where you test the Clickthrough rate, the other is for your HIGHEST converting clicks. Use the first one for everything with a new channel, then after awhile, you'll figure out if any channel is worth transfering to your other account that is for the best conversion. This should give you a good boost, as you'll have the best, highest converting ads. With your good account, you should really only have one adsense block per page so you have the highest click through for that adblock. If you must, just use another account on the same page since those ads will be lower quality, although some of those ad blocks might take away from your best performing adblocks. Another tip I think there's a way to get rid of "ads by google" on there, but I don't remember where I read it and it was a year or 2 ago. Other good tips that take a little more work: Put images across the top of horizontal ads, or to the side of vertical ads, makes ad look less intrusive, and people love to click on links by interesting pictures. You might be able to find adsense ready templates that work like mentioned somewhere, I don't have link at moment. Photos in header that subliminally point towards your ads. Someone smoking a cigarrette on a dont smoke blog with the cig pointing down toward the direction of the ads, a golf tee aligned with the ad so it points. I saw one that just had tv monitors angled towards each other facing towards the ads. The images sole purpose aren't to highlight the ads as long as it's relevent to niche you should be okay, if you're nervous send into google and ask before using to double check. Some say post right at top, specifically top left, others say that's too spammy looking, and to do it at bottom so after people are done reading content they click, others say in the middle if you have a long boring article or one that isn't what they're looking for they'll see a skyscraper along the side and click... Test all 3. I think if you can make it not look spammy you can have header, nice blend with photos and ad in middle of the page and it works fine I think if you have short articles that are reevent and interesting, or just post summarys like the tech crunch autoblog post on the bottom probably works best, and if you have long articles, especially if you have a broad niche, or if you get lower targeted traffic (but still relevent) the skyscraper on the sidebar in middle works great. If you have 2 adsense IDs or more because you followed 4th tip, Go first for volume, and if you find a good niche, then go back and put more focus on it. If you don't have 2 adsense you probably don't want to risk a bunch of blogs that might have horrible CTR, so instead use another advertiser network to start with, preferably the one that gives most relevent ads, then go back and fix it later. | |
