| Recently I got an email from my university stating that they are complying with "Higher Education Opportunity Act (29)(A) - {universities must develop plans to effectively combat the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, including through the use of a variety of technology-based deterrents.}" They said they were using a new system to detect file-sharing programs. I stopped downloading torrents when I got that email. Now I got an email about an hour ago stating this: Dear xxxxx, This message has been automatically generated by a new system that Information Technology Services is evaluating. Based on the Higher Education Opportunity Act (29)(A) - {universities must develop plans to effectively combat the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material, including through the use of a variety of technology-based deterrents.} Our goal is to proactively notify you of network use that may lead to Copyright Infringement notices or legal action. This new system has detected network traffic that indicates that a file-sharing program may be running on your computer with IP address xxx.xx.xxx.xxx. This is possibly because you have installed a program used for downloading and sharing songs, videos or computer programs. Media downloaded using this sort of program may be in violation of copyright. If this is the case, we recommend that you remove from your computer the program and any downloaded files. This system does not examine the contents of the files being transferred. It is possible that it has detected the download of non-copyrighted material or files to which you have licensed access such as online game updates. We understand that media downloading is a confusing subject, and have set up a website to help educate our user population. Please visit http://support.appstate.edu/dmca . If you don't believe that you are running a file sharing software, please reply to this message so that your feedback can help us with this test. | Hi, I've a little problem: I haven't got one of the needed cards (Visa, MasterCard, AE). So I can't charge my account:( I found this site entropay.c0m, but to charge your VCC you have to have a CC, too:( So I'm stucked here^^ Does somebody have an idea or could help me out? | |
