| I hired someone who claimed himself has perfect American English. Here is his work, holy freaking crap! Code: Diet soda is worse for you! Diet coke is actually 99% water, so could it be bad? many pesticides are 99% water as well, so the answer is yes. Like pesticides, there is a research trying to link diet coke to certain types of cancers. Even through there are tests trying to link certain problems to diet soda, there are many facts about how bad diet soda really is. Sharon Fowler did a study at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and concluded in short "For each can of diet soft drink consumed each day, a person's risk of obesity went up 41%." According to WebMD and Fowler "When the researchers took a closer look at their data, they found that nearly all the obesity risk from soft drinks came from diet sodas."New York Governor David Patterson wanted to add a 15% tax to all non-diet soda, known as the obesity tax. What does not make sense is why would there be a tax on non-diet soda if research has shown that most, if not all, the obesity risk from soda comes from diet soda. Diet soda is not just effecting the weight of its drinkers. Studies show that soft drinks can erode the enamel of teeth. Diet soda plays a big part in this because many people like to drink diet soda through out the day and between meals because it has little or no calories. This high volume of soda is causing the enamel to erode even faster. Once the the acid can get through the enamel of the teeth it can start to cause pain and sensitivity. Financially diet sodas can be devastating. In New York state a 12 oz. can of soda can cost anywhere from $.75 up to $1.25. If a soda drinker drinks soda through out the day they can be expected to consume around if not more then five cans of soda, that can add up to as much as $6.25 a day, $43.75 a week, $175 a month and $2100 a year. To put that into perspective, the average cost of car insurance in New York state in 2004 was $1,171.62 a year, and this included liability, collision, and comprehensive. Then add in the cost of dental bills and doctor bills over the years due to bad oral and physical health brought on by constant soda consumption can add up to be extremely detrimental. The average doctors visit costs $60, but what if there is a serious issue like a heart attack? The national average cost of an emergency room visit is $383. The average cost of a dentist visit is about $67, that is including fillings for cavities and root canals for dead teeth. The average cost per year, if someone wants to drink diet soda through out the day because of the lack of calories, is about $2600. With all the facts the question consumers should be asking themselves is, why drink diet soda if it has so many negative factors? Diet soda is one of the most hazardous health risks any one can take. | |
